A Real Example: Our Queenscliff Retirement Build

One of our recent projects in Queenscliff was built around exactly this brief: a custom home designed for ease, comfort, and freedom in retirement.

Working alongside Peter Ryan of PER Architects, we delivered a single-level home with step-free entry ramps, durable metal and timber cladding, and passive design touches, including ceiling fans and louvre windows, to keep energy use low.

Every piece of timber on that build was chosen the way Lachlan chooses timber on every build: for how it will age, not just how it looks on handover day. That’s the difference between a house that’s low-maintenance because it’s stripped back, and one that’s low-maintenance because it was built properly the first time.

For the client who built here, that trade-off was the whole point, more time away, less time on upkeep, without trading away the feel of a genuinely custom home. The result is a true lock-up-and-leave build that still feels bespoke.
